About this Site
Several years ago, when I mentioned agile software development to friends and colleagues, many asked, "What's that?"
This site began as my answer to that question.
Now, the questions and issues have changed. To me, the big issue is making Agile fit the needs of our customers, and demonstrating that it fits. That's why I'm writing about contracts, trust and negotiation.
About the Author
![]() I'm an Application Architect and Project Leader. My work focusses on agile software development and Microsoft's .NET platform. I'm the proud father of a young family.
I work for Optimation.
Disclaimer
The opinions expressed on this site are my own. They are not expressed on behalf of any other party.
This site is not about any specific "brand" of agile development. I.e. it's not specifically about XP, Scrum, DSDM, FDD, Crystal or any one of the other documented agile processes. Instead, I try to focus on the common ground shared by all agile processes. Having said that, I'm never going to be completely impartial :-) My ideal agile process would draw heavily from Crystal Clear, include elements of Scrum and FDD, and borrow engineering practices (such as automated testing, refactoring and simplicity-as-a-design-goal) from XP.
The Name "AgileKiwi"
The word "kiwi" refers to me, a New Zealander, and to the kiwi, which is our national bird.
In some parts of the world people also say "kiwi" when they mean "kiwifruit", but this site has nothing to do with agile fruit :-)
Acknowledgments
I'm particularly indebted to the authors of numerous discussions on the WikiWikiWeb and to Alistair Cockburn. I've found his written research and insightful comments extremely valuable. Thanks also to my good friend Bevan, whose feedback is much appreciated.
